My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sydnee came from a loving home but due to knee surgery, her owner was unable to get her out for walks and such which Sydnee loves.  It will take her a bit of time to settle in but she is a sweet dog and a wonderful companion.  Sydnee is 4  1/2 years old and currently weighs approximately 20 lbs.

Here is what Sydnee's foster family had to say about her:
Sydnee is very affectionate.  She enjoys a good scratch and lots of cuddles.  She has whined on occasion to remind us that we are not paying enough attention to her.  If you love and cuddle her, she will love and cuddle you right back.  Sydnee is in great health.  She may be a tad overweight, but one step at a time.  She just left a home where she was loved and cared for a great deal.  When she settles in to her forever home, then perhaps something can be done about her weight.  But first, some stability.  She has a moderate energy level.  She is a very low shedding animal.

I tutor children and Sydnee loves each and every one of them.  They are primary and elementary school age.  She will greet them with a lick and sometimes will insist on a bit of a scratch before she will leave us alone.  She does not seem shy toward anyone.  She was a little stand-offish towards my husband at first.  But after a day or so, she was fine.  She barks at other dogs, when we are out walking and they are across the street.  But I have not seen any aggression towards people or other animals.  Sydnee gets along well with our dog, Mocha.  Mocha is a toy poodle.  They walk well together, they will sit on the back of our love seat and look outside together.  My daughter's Pomeranian stayed with us and she got along well with him.  I unfortunately do not know how well she would do with a bigger dog.  We do not have a cat.

She is fine when we leave, no big fuss, no barking.  And when we return, there may be a whine or two because they are happy to see us, but there is no constant barking.  She was scared out of her mind when we first picked her up.  But she just came from a home where she was loved, to someone else’s home to be surrendered, to us.  Change.  But within 3 or 4 hours she adapted and seemed to be just fine.  She loves to walk.  She adores walking.  I cannot say enough about it!  She is a good dog.  She enjoys toys.  Her energy level is moderate to low.  There may be some barking if a dog and his owner walk by, and she will bark to let me know that one of my kids have arrived but other than those specific instances, she is a quiet dog.  She may play strange for the first little bit.  And then she will warm up to you.

She is very well behaved.  Sydnee has begged for food from my husband, but not me.  She just instinctively knows that he will give her a scrap or two.  She knows come, sit and I think that is all.  Sydnee has been watching our dog and my daughter's dog and has gone along with them when asked if they need to go outside to pee-pee.  She now knows where to go if she needs to relieve herself.  She has had a few accidents when she first came, but she is in a new place and has had to figure out what it means when all the pups trample down the stairs.  We have a walk out basement.  I have used a crate when I go out for an hour or more.  She doesn’t much like it and instead prefers to sleep in her own bed at night.  She doesn’t want to come up on to our bed although her previous owner said that she slept in their bed.

To me she walks well on a leash.  She is a steady walker, doesn’t suddenly take off.   She has never tried to bolt out the door and our back yard is fenced in.  She seemed to ride along just fine in the car.

Sydnee would do well in a home that had someone who would ply her with love and attention.  Somebody who loves to go out and walk at least 2 times per day.  She would be a great companion dog.  She would just thrive with a retired couple.  There would always be someone there to love her.

If you think you could give Syndee a loving home, please visit our main website at http://www.uglymuttsdogrescue.com and submit an adoption application.
