Sweet lovable Nellie has a had a rough start to life but she refuses to let her past interfere with her present and her future. Nellie is a 1.5 year old black lab mix weighing 35 lbs. She likely won't be any bigger than 45 to 50 lbs when full grown. She's a typical little girl with a typical lab puppy personality which means lots of fun and lots of play. Nellie has done a wonderful job with her crate and house training. We don't really know the how and why of her beginnings but we do know she was neglected. This adorable girl ended up in an overcrowded high kill shelter with barely a patch of fur on her during one of the coldest winters the south has ever seen. She needed special care and some special people to get her beautiful and healthy again, enter her rescue foster family! After several weeks of TLC and treatment she got her pretty black coat back and her personality just shined. . She has had limited exposure to cats and seems to be okay with them. She loves playing with other dogs and can "hold her own" with larger ones. She is a quicker learner working on her commands and learning what is and is not a chew possibility~she loves her Kong and Nylabone toys as this keeps her quite busy! Nellie would do better in a quiet home with both mental and physical stimuli in between cuddles. A fenced in yard is a plus, as Nellie loves to run around and then bask in the sun. Nellie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. She is ready to move forward on her journey where the ending will be with a loving forever family in her perfect forever home. She will never have to deal with the unknown or the longing sense of of someday , somehow. This is right now and will lead to forever and she will live with and a loving family with no regrets..
