Here's what the humans have to say about me:
PLEASE HELP ME FIND MY FOREVER HOME!
My name is Levi………..
It was just another routine Spay Day for River City, doing what they do best, and doing it up in Brunswick, Georgia. It was a long day, and towards the end, they noticed me…I was trotting across the parking lot following two kids.
I had been following quite a few different people for several days, actually, and was seen dodging traffic on the main roads and I was pretty exhausted, as well as hungry. My coat was very dirty and matted and I had lost quite a bit of weight and really needed to rest. It seems some misunderstanding happened and I was maybe inadvertently put out on the road. I did have a family…I am used to people and very trusting…which is why I cannot understand what went wrong. I was a good dog; I still am! I am so sure there must have been some mistake, and so I was doing my best to find my family.
So the River City folks found me checking faces later at the Winn Dixie. Many customers told them I had been hanging around for a week or so, looking for my family; they hoped the River City people were my owners. I just knew my family would come back, but time was passing and I was getting thinner and sadder and dirtier and not having any luck.
Well, as luck would then have it, they called me over and I was a good dog and obeyed them. I spent a few minutes with them trying to ask me questions and my trying to make them understand.
We finally came to an agreement. I agreed to do what they asked me (I really am a very good boy) and they invited me into the van. Next thing I knew they were examining me and testing me for heartworms (I am positive, as I guess my previous family didn’t see the need to put me on prevention, but my new friends have already started taking care of that) and vaccinating me. They next brought in a huge bag of better dog food than I have ever had in my life, and next thing you know, we were on the road heading for Lakeland, Georgia, and I was brushed and petted all the way.
We spent the night in Lakeland and I was always a very good boy. I was good company and have never been any trouble. Back in Jacksonville, in my new foster home, I made myself right at home. I have had a bath and I am happy being with cats and birds and other dogs, though people and my own real family will ALWAYS be my first love. I am gaining weight and really feeling GOOD for the first time in a long time.
I tried to explain what I am, but I don’t really know, myself; I am mostly Golden Retriever, but everyone thinks I may be part Malamute (I sang a dogsled song as I was waking up from my surgery; my former owners had also forgotten to neuter me.) I was a great patient, by the way. I am very easy going, great on a leash, and as gentle as an angel. I think I am about 4 years old, but I don’t really remember. I have kind of had a hard life before now.
What I really need now is a family and forever home of my own. I was hoping maybe you would consider meeting me and see how it goes…I swear you would NEVER find a more loyal, gentle, or grateful friend.
Please contact me through e-mail; I check it often (I am a hopeful dog:)
