My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oreo is a handsome pup of about five months old. You would never believe that this boy was scared to death of humans not long ago, not having been socialized with anything but his dog family since birth ( the mama looked like a Dachshund/Jack Russell mix and their papa looked like a Dalmatian/Beagle mix).

Don't let that put you off at all - by all means no! Oreo has made great strides in trusting the touch of people, especially when around other dogs that love people. He is a silly and fairly confident boy who is very smart. Being a very smart boy he still needs a bit of time to adjust to new situations but he's pretty sure he really likes people and even likes to play with them now. He would be best in a home where his people are willing to be patient and encourage every breakthrough he makes. He loves dogs but should not be given unlimited access to them. He should learn from them but get his affection from humans. He believes cats should play with him and so it will probably take a swat or two on the nose for him to learn who is in charge. And kids over five years should be fine, and he may even seek them out over adults.

To the family that is willing to give one of these pups the time and human attention that was lacking from birth until now they will be getting an amazing addition to the family that will reveal itself in stages. Could one of these pups be the dogs for you? If your answer is yes,, please read on or go to the Adoptoin Process page of our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - to read about how to start the process.

All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live.

Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
