My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello my name is MERLIN

I am a pure bred ChowChow - rescued from a CA high kill shelter in December. Ever since I came to WA (precisely Orcas Island) the founder of ADR.org could really get to know me better.

While I am gorgeous (and I know that..) and make believe that I am very self assured I get easily startled if I do not gauge well your intent and behavior to start with.

Hence the founder thinks that I would do best:

- as only male dog in a household; NO cats; another female dog will be accepted
- no young children ( Merlin is just too nervous and aloof, and hence unpredictable around young children)
- with a steady routine, and structure in a savvy household where I, Merlin clearly accept who the leader is
- with a fenced back yard where I am NOT left all day alone because I love my walks
- where a strong bond is built on respect and trust between dog and "my human"
- where I can go on car rides with you (which I love) but the car needs a dog barrier otherwise I would become your "co-pilot" in then passenger seat - all the time.
- with a person who at all times knows to have a good grip on the leash because ..Boy..when I see something on the walks from rabbits, squirrel, deer, cat - I am on it and want to run after

otherwise I can tell you that I (Merlin) am a handsome boy, that wants nothing but being a loyal great companion.

So I hope you have patience with me (Merlin Speaking..) ,and implement your leadership - THEN we are an unbeatable pair.
