Clarification: Grace was surrendered because her OWNER was too old, and infirm, and could no longer physically care for Grace. Grace was loved. Her owner wrote us a long letter telling us all the things Grace could do, including sit, shake, down, and she'll give you her toy if you say "thank you!" We contacted the owner to see if there was any way we could help her keep Grace because they obviously loved each other. Unfortunately it wasn't an issue of resources, but of her physically being unable to care for Grace the way she thought Grace should be cared for.
