My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beautiful Butterfly is a dignified, strong and elegant kitty! He favorite things right now in no particular order of preference are:
1. Getting back scratches from familiar people.
2. Playing with cat toys, and pretending other items are cat toys too!
3. Eating!!!

Her story is that she was born on the streets of Bed Stuy in a disused car lot, and lived there until about 3.5 months of age when we rescued her. She has been in a foster home since 09.12.18 and although very fearful and shy of humans at first for several weeks, she's made so much progress and is now a purring, affectionate and curious kitty.

Right now she enjoys being a part of the scene and will quietly hang out with you (more in a fly on the wall way), and will give you cat smiles with her eyes when you speak to her. When everything feels familiar (the people, the noises etc.) and she's feeling relaxed she comes to you purring very loudly, soliciting her favorite back rubs. She loves lounging on the bed near to you, or occasionally right on your lap.

For now Butterfly is still a cat that can be especially shy and jumpy with new people and unfamiliar things. She will do best in a home that can be patient and allow her lots of time and space to settle in and feel safe. She would love a doggy friend too.

It should also be said that Butterfly is exceptionally beautiful! Her markings are some magical combination of tabby and tortoiseshell that make her look as though some one just applied a special sheen. Some people say she looks like a snow leopard.

She’s approximately 6 months old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested negative, and treated for fleas and parasites. Her foster home is located in Bed Stuy and warmly welcomes visits to meet Butterfly.
