Some harder days Empty larder days Why grouse? - 'Consider Yourself' from Oliver
Remember Oliver Twist that lovable orphan? Well meet Holtz, an orphan as well. He is just under 3 months old and our best guess is that he is probably a Plott Hound/Black Mouth Cur mix (both VERY sweet breeds). He weighs around 16 lbs right now and will likely be somewhere between 60 and 70 lbs when full grown, so our precious little package will be a bigger boy some day. Holtz was found on a busy road in south Mississippi with his siblings and tragically his deceased mom who had been struck by a car. Holtz and his siblings were just barely 4 weeks old at the time. He was placed in a loving foster home where he was bottle fed for a few more weeks. His beginnings led to a bit of a 'twist' in his young life. Despite doing the best she could nutrition wise for such a tiny baby, he ended up with rickets. His doggy doctor had some additional vitamins and more protein and fat to his diet once he was weaned. His legs are a bit bowed but they have already improved quite a bit and will continue to get better with time. So don't let those little bowed legs scare you off. He's big on affection and has loads of personality. He's been working hard on his potty training and has been doing well. Of course he will need to learn new routines in a new home. Holtz does very well when crated which is being used to keep him safe when foster mom leaves the house. He has had very few accidents when kenneled and he prefers to do his business outside anyway. Speaking of outside, Holtz loves to run and play outside. He would love to have people who will play with him and explore the great outdoors. On the flip side he is also happy snuggling up and playing at being a couch potato. Holtz gets along with all he meets. He gets along well with other dogs, cats, and older kids (older kids who are gentle with puppies is a must). Holtz is already neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. He is ready to consider himself at home and to be part of the family. We have no doubt his forever loving family will take to him so strong and clearly you will get along. So if you are ready for a family member who will be there on good days and bad, if you are happy or sad. So consider giving Holtz a place in your heart and home...consider making him part of the family.
