Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Let’s talk about Sam, our special senior Shih Tzu.
Sam is a purebred, sweet-petite senior ShihTzu fella available now for adoption through RCCR.
He is 10 or 12 years old and weighs 10 pounds.
Sammy arrived with a coat so matted and greasy that a shave-down was the only grooming option. His naked body revealed raw, itchy skin and hair loss from flea dermatitis. Antibiotics and a steroid have restored his beautiful white coat with red/liver markings.
We also discovered that Sam is blind. He has dense cataracts that totally obscure his vision. In addition, he has phthisis bulbi; one eye is smaller than the other, and will continue to atrophy. There is no cure for phthisis bulbi. He’s currently using prescription eyedrops.
This ol’ man SamSam functions great in his foster home. He has a finely honed sense of smell that helps direct him. He also has some hearing.
His greatest asset is his ability to love on whomever is loving on him. Pick this baby up and he melts into your arms; gives generous, gentle kisses; just lives in the moment. Snuggle bug extraordinaire.
He would do best in a quiet home without a lot of human or other pet activity. Definitely no rambunctious kids running around, toys to bump into on the floor. He does enjoy other pet companionship, but will cry out piteously when jostled. He doesn’t nip or bite, he just doesn’t see the oncoming bump and it startles him. He knows where the wee wee pads are although isn't 100% on them yet.
He’s a great lap dog and has no particular preference for any TV shows. He’ll never hog the remote, intercept text messages or criticize your driving.
Sammy is completely vetted and ready for his new home. If you’re interested in this cuddle bug, please complete an application found at this link. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y4btYFbGGN44qiLoLl74rNo4FqO7QqT5us9ifqEYTfI/mobilebasic?pli=1
