Here's what the humans have to say about me:
***A two week trial adoption period is madatory for this dog. Please only apply if you are in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs.***
Hi there! I'm a little guy named Duke and I am looking for a home! A while ago, Canines & Company found me at Chicago Animal Care and Control with a great deal of matting in my unkept coat. It looked as though I had been on the street for a while. I was fairly shy and my first groom was stressful. But after a new 'do and the kindness of all the nice people at Found Training Center, where I am staying at currently, I have really come out of my shell and the staff here absolutely loves me.
I have proven to be highly social with other animals, cats and dogs alike! I just like to play, play, play! I tried out agility with the trainers and it was pretty cool! I can rock a solid "sit" and I am working on my "down" and "place" commands. I'm not super food motivated, but I can appreciate a good, smelly treat when training. Mostly I just like attention and pets for reward, so I'd like to call myself a pretty simple guy! Also, I just found out how fun toys are and this fun game called "fetch!" Throw me a ball and I'm all yours!
Sometimes, I can get a little nervous if I become overwhelmed. For this reason, I prefer children over the age of 10 who can be patient with me and allow me to make friends with them on my own terms. Once I'm your buddy, you can count on loads of cuddles from there on out! On my downtime, I can chill and relax with the best of them. I have learned that my crate is a safe space and will curl up for a good nap whenever you're not around to hang out. I'll also curl up on your lap if that's cool, too. I'm really everything awesome about little dogs, not to brag or anything.
If you would like adopt me, please reach out to brittney@caninesandcompany.org. You won't be sorry!
