Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Felix. Felix is an energetic puppy that is looking for a fun and loving home to grow up in. If you are searching for a puppy with personality plus, we encourage you to consider Felix as a forever family member.
Felix gets along with other small dogs in his foster home. He has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. Felix also loves toys of all kinds. His favorite toy is a ball with a rope attached. He loves to tug on the rope. He also loves for you to either throw that toy or a tennis ball. He is great about chasing the toy, bringing it back, then begging you to throw it again. If you want to get your arm in shape, Felix will volunteer to play with you!
Felix loves being outside – even in the summer heat. Note that Felix is small and therefore will always need his human near by while he is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Felix). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Felix is so tiny that he can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so he will need to be in a home with a solid, fenced yard. Felix loves to run and explore, so his home will need to be secure in all aspects.
Felix is a “talker”. When he starts to play and gets excited, he barks! When someone comes to the house, he barks! He loves activity, he loves interaction, and he loves to tell you about it. We enjoy this about the little guy. And he will grow out of some of this as he matures. But if you are sensitive about a vocal puppy with spunk, please let us suggest another companion.
Felix loves his humans. He can be a bit shy when he first meets you. But within a very short time, he knows he can trust you and becomes your best friend. This little guy is a velcro dog with his humans. He loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, he wants to be a part of it. His favorite thing to do is to help you fold the laundry. OK, full disclosure – he likes to steal your socks or kitchen towels and prance around the house with them while you are folding laundry. He turns laundry into fun and invites you to play “chase” with him. LOL. Felix gets along with everyone, but he is tiny! Note that he is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! Felix is not one to sit and cuddle much. Right now he wants to play with you and have fun. If you are watching TV, he wants you to multi-task and play catch with him! But he is a total sweetheart (his foster parents say he might be the sweetest dog they have ever fostered!).
Felix was born on 3/8/18 and was an owner surrender to our group. He is half Chihuahua and half Pomeranian, and is 100% adorable. Felix currently weighs about 5 pounds and is almost fully grown. Due to his small size, we recommend an all adult home only or a home with older, mature children (13 and older). Felix has beautiful reddish tan and white coat. We love his ears, and his deep brown eyes. He would love to have another small dog to play with as he grows up.
Felix is super smart. We notice that Felix listens to his foster parents and responds. He picks up things quickly. We are starting to work on commands with him, and believe with continued training, he will be “sitting” etc in no time! Felix is working on his potty training and is almost there. He is crate trained and will sleep the entire night in his crate. We are working on leash training – he is new to the “let’s take a walk on a leash” concept! We think once he understands the leash, he will love going on walks because he loves doing active things with his family. Due to his lack of leash training and his tendency to run and explore, we do not recommend an apartment setting for Felix.
Felix is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet guy sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
Felix is neutered, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?
This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300 adoption fee required.
After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog.
