Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bruce has quite a sad story to tell. He was dumped under a freeway bridge in Houston, Texas and had been living there for several weeks before a good samaritan saw him and started gaining his trust by bringing him food. He had also been sharing his food with some baby kittens he was looking after, as well as another dog named "Shine." Other stray dogs in the area ganged up on him and attacked him and wounded him quite badly, causing wounds on his head and neck that became infected. That's when the good samaritan that had been gaining his trust called on rescue to help. We were able to, with the help of the good samaritan, lure Bruce and his buddy, Shine, into a car with chicken and they have now been fully vetted, neutered and Bruce's wounds have completely healed. He has also been treated for heartworms. Bruce needs an adopter experienced with the breed. He MAY do okay with other larger dogs with proper introduction but has decided that he does not like adult cats or chickens. We are sure his life before he came into rescue was not a good one as being inside a house and walking on a leash is a completely foreign concept to him. He does take treats gently from your hand and wants to trust people so badly. He does fine with people and older children. He needs an adopter willing to teach him what being a cherished pet is all about. We think Bruce deserves a second chance at a good life. Is that with you?
