Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This adorable tiny fellow just arrived from an over burdened Southern Indiana shelter. Pico (short for Picasso) is an AWESOME dog ~ one of the best minis we've ever seen! He is exceptionally cute, friendly, cuddly and mellow. He is not yappy or nippy ~ just sweet and mellow. He gets along great with all humans, dogs and kids (is being fostered with a large senior female dog and they are the best of friends). He is estimated at 6 years old; and weighs 11 lbs. Although he's probably a purebred (or close to it) Chihuahua, he doesn't have the Napoleon complex that most Chi's have. Pico is VERY submissive and at times, a bit hand shy; and he did have his jaw broken prior to coming to us (he has made a full recovery). So we think his past was not that great. Because he is so tiny and frail, a quieter home with either no children or older/gentle kids would be best ~ even though he is great and gentle with kids. Pico would LOVE a home with lots of human company (maybe work from home or retired person(s)?) to make up for lost time. If there is a lap near, he's a happy little guy. But he also is an exceptionally nice walking companion (walks 2M each day); and he'd be a wonderful companion for another small dog. Lastly, Pico enjoys chasing rabbits and squirrels, so for his safety and comfort, if you have a yard, it must be securely fenced-in. He loves car rides, visiting family and he has great house manners. He is housebroken and crate trained (but is fine out of the crate as well). If you are interested in giving our tiny diamond in the rough a lifetime of love, care and gentle guidance, contact his Foster Mom, Carolyn, at schroeder0010@comcast.net or (630) 341-3411 or go to www.animalheartline.org for our required adoption application. We are a very small group of caring volunteers and a home visit is requirement of adoption, therefore local adoptions only please (within 50-60 miles from Chicago/Naperville). No exceptions please. Thank you! Pico is being fostered in Geneva, Illinois.
