Here's what the humans have to say about me:
WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA
Mocha is an outrageously handsome Agouti type Siberian Husky boy who is tall and lean with long legs. He was surrendered to the shelter by his inexperienced owners who were not willing to work with him to further his socialization skills with other dogs. He does need work in this area; approaching dogs who may not be as submissive as others.
He is very mouthy not having been trained well as a puppy to break those young teething habits. Given how mouthy he is with play and highly energetic, it's probably best that he is not in a home with young children as he could easily just knock them over in his exuberance. He also tends to jump up on people when he greets them. Overall, he doesn't have a good understanding of home life but is learning.
Walking down the street this boy is quite the eye catcher. He has been learning socialization through daycare as the facility he is attending agreed to help work with him; knowing he is a rescue.
Mocha is king of the neighborhood when he walks down the street; everyone comments on his strikingly good looks. He enjoys his visits to the dog park but needs to be monitored with his interactions with other dogs. Mocha is great while on leash and sleeps in his crate all night without issue. In time, as he progresses in his socialization skills with other dogs, he may not need to be crated. He is a chewer so needs an outlet for that with toys, such as Kongs or bones.
This boy likes to ride in the car. Initially he needed a seat belt harness or crate just because he would climb on you while driving. After some training, his car traveling has improved so he is not all over the place anymore. He is not afraid of people, crowds, thunder, or fireworks.
One of his favorite pastimes is chilling out on the patio at a nearby wine bar eagerly awaiting passersby and other patrons to come up and pet him for as long as they are willing to. As can be seen in a couple of his pictures, Mocha also enjoys playing in the water.
Being so young, Mocha has tons of energy but when you finally wear him out he is great. He can be protective of his territory in the home with another alpha but does great outside the home with any dog. He would do fine as an only dog or with another submissive dog he can play with since he really loves playing with other dogs and it's a great energy outlet for him. We feel an experienced Husky owner would be best for him.
Mocha is healthy, Heartworm negative, housebroken, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. Be the envy of your neighborhood when out walking with this amazing boy, fill out an adoption application on our website, www.siberrescue.com, today.
