My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID
Adoption Fee: $50
Age: 14
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped

Skip has had a rough go of it lately his human mom got really sick and was in the hospital for awhile and then sadly passed away. While he was well taken care of during that time those types of transitions are hard on animals.

This adorable little man can take a few moments to warm up to a new person; however, once he does you are friends for life. Skip is not at all a lap dog. He prefers to let you know when he wants attention and then go back to lying next to you for a nap. Skip will allow a person he knows to pick him up, but within a few moments wiggles and wants to be put down.

He is house trained and will give his Foster Mom a bark and stare to let her know he needs out; however otherwise he is a quiet boy. Skip knows a few commands (come, no, laydown); however, at his age he has a bit of hearing loss and sometimes needs to be told come a couple of times or at a closer distance.

Skip enjoys an occasional treat and prefers the soft and chewy variety. His favorite past time is to nap in his comfy dog bed next to his Foster Mom. He walks well on a leash, but prefers shorter walks where he can sniff his surroundings. Skip does well with other dogs, but prefers ones that are closer to his energy level or that will stear clear of him. He is unknown with cats and is looking for either an adult only home or one with kids 15 and older.

Skips coat requires regular brushing at home and grooming visits about every 6 weeks to keep him free of mats. Yorkie’s do shed; however not as much as a double coated dog. If you want to keep his coat in good shape then our friends The Pet Groomers already know him and would Love to groom him again!

Other than some hearing loss and a wart or 2 this guy is in good health; he recently had some senior blood work done and it came back fine.
