My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bahama is a 2 1/2 year old kitty who came to our shelter along with her four kittens. This beautiful girl has begun to learn to trust and would love to have a home of her own! Even though she was just a kitten herself when she gave birth to her four kittens, she took very good care of them. She’s a real survivor!

Bahama is spayed, microchipped, is negative for FIV/FELV and is up to date on all vaccines.

Presently, Bahama is in foster and is doing quite well. If you would like to meet her, please email adopt@bobbicares.org to request an adoption application. Kindly keep in mind that our adoptions are local only (Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan).

Additional adoption info

We require all potential adopters to complete an adoption form. We will make arrangements to meet with you, inspect the home where the animal will live, and, once approved, you'll be able to take home your new family member. Fees will be discussed with potential adopters.

We also require that adopters keep us updated on the well being of their pets and, if for any reason they are no longer able to keep the animal, they MUST call us to return the animal to us. We will pick up if necessary.

More about this rescue

Bobbi and the Strays believe that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs.

Through rehabilitation, socialization, and adoption, we endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into our care. Additionally, we generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.

Through the years our mission has evolved from just rescue and adoption to community service and educational programs to improve the quality of life to all of the NYC boroughs and Long Island.

Our rescues are brought to schools to provide awareness, help prevent animal abuse and bullying by demonstrating and teaching love, compassion, and respect for life.

By establishing a program that serves low-income families, the elderly and disabled individuals, we bring the communities and animals together for a life of harmony through love and compassion for all.

Bobbi and the Strays is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt animal welfare organization, and a no-kill agency.
