My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Danny Boy was surrendered to us after his former guardian encountered some serious legal trouble. This young piggy who had never seen a vet was housed in a small storage bin instead of an appropriately-sized enclosure, and was not given regular out-of-cage time in order to exercise and socialize. He was fed inappropriate foods, had hay thrown about his enclosure, and had his water bottle placed so low that it was practically unusable. Danny hid under his hay, as there was not a single hideout to be found in his enclosure. Despite ample evidence to the contrary, we listened to his surrenderer talk proudly about the accommodations and care that they had been providing.
Danny came into our care afraid of his own shadow. His first time in a playpen confused him, as he quickly dashed from one end to another trying to absorb the new environment. Soon enough, Danny realized the potential of a spacious enclosure, and began running laps, popcorning, and vocalizing lively.
Today, Danny Boy is adjusted to his human caretaker, enjoys being petted, and likes the company of resident cats, foster kittens, and bunnies alike.

Around 8 month old, Danny Boy was deemed in good health by our vet and is ready for his new life to start.

Please note- Guinea pigs are incredibly social creatures that thrive in pairs or groups, and we never really know about their true personalities until they are living among other members of their species. Empty Cages aims to respect their natural bonds, so we only adopt guinea pigs in pairs, or to homes that already have one or more.
