My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

Nova was wandering along a busy highway near railroad tracks and upon smelling something delicious, followed the scent to a pizza shop. Thankfully they called a shelter volunteer who was able to take her to the shelter so that she was safe from the risk of being hit by a car. She was quite stressed at the shelter, which is no surprise for any dog. Nova was in rough shape from being neglected and not cared for properly, including being caked in feces and large raw areas on her skin. Unfortunately, this meant that her beautiful wooly coat had to be trimmed very short due to the severity of the matting which was also causing her discomfort. Thankfully we have a couple of pictures of what she looked like with her woolly coat prior to this.

To make matters worse, she came in with an upper respiratory infection that has now been successfully treated thanks to antibiotics and a lot of TLC. Since she is feeling better, her foster family is seeing her true puppy personality and energy level come to light.

Nova has settled in with her foster family and knows what it's like to be around humans who care for her, so much so that she doesn't like being by herself. She looks up to her foster brothers and has shown to be dependent on them when left alone. We believe Nova would do best in a home with other dogs. However, she has a high prey drive so is not cat friendly.

Nova is initially shy with people she meets but quickly warms up to them and will then seek out attention. She will come over and lay her head on your lap and just stand beside you. She has taken to being doted on by her foster family and will do the same with her new adopters. Nova also enjoys getting belly rubs and loves to play fetch with her toys. Sometimes she prefers you to come to her to take it and then throw it again.

Nova is food aggressive, likely due to living on the streets and in time, with training, this can be overcome. She is good on lead and loves her walks, which are quite necessary to help tire her out. Nova is almost 100% house broken and has caught on well so long as you pay attention and give her praise.

Nova is healthy, Heartworm negative, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. She will thrive in a home with experienced Husky owners, another dog or two and make an affectionate, loyal family member. Fill out an adoption application on our website, www.siberrescue.com, today.
