Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello there! My name is Shadow, and I'm an ultra-sweet, laid-back, gentle, super-smart, long 'n lanky black Great Dane/ Lab mix gal who was born about July 2014. I have the 75-pound weight and build of a large lab, but I've got the long legs and giant head of a Great Dane. I let my foster mom know how much I love her and how happy I am with my 'full-butt' tail wags. My most favorite part of the day is when she gets home from work and I roll on my back to get belly rubs. It's quite a sight with my super-long legs' sticking up in the air!
My second favorite part of the day is when my foster mom takes me on long, meandering walks, where I am eager to meet new people, kids, and other dogs. I walk on a leash well, but I need additional training. No worries! I'm super-intelligent and am very food-motivated. I'm a very relaxed, nonchalant dog who loves to 'shadow' my foster mom as she walks through the house, roll my kibble ball to get my treats, love on my stuffed bear, as well as relax on the sofa.
Life has not been all that great for me before I came to my foster home. I was thin, depressed, and despondent when my foster mom first spotted me at the county animal shelter, where she realized that my prior life was probably not very privileged either. My foster mom let her heart rule her head and bailed me out of the shelter without thinking about how her small place and solo life were probably not the most stimulating for me.
It's okay with me that I'm crated while she's at work all day because I have full 'run' (more like a stroll!) of the house otherwise. Hey, I'm a couch potato whose mantra is lounging and napping! Not to mention, the food's great here! Although I'm still thin and have a few bald patches on my legs, the vet says that I'm a completely different dog than when he first saw me. Just chalk it up to good groceries and those delightful belly rubs that I'm a happy, contented pooch now! I'm an easy, calm, well-adjusted girl who just takes things in stride! No amount of noise or commotion ever phases me!
Nevertheless, my foster mom is hoping that there is a loving family out there who has the opportunity to give me a richer, fuller life -- maybe with a back yard for my afternoon strolls. I'm a great 'comfort' dog, so bring on the kids because I'm like Nana, the big beloved family dog in 'Peter Pan.' Gosh! I'd really thrive if all the attention I'm getting from my foster mom were multiplied by a family with older kids! However, my new family should not have small children because I'm so food-motivated that I tend to overwhelm small children with food in their hands. My foster mom will send me off with an extra-large kennel, a cool sport leash with a padded handle, and my food bowls. So I hope that you'll arrange to meet me today!
Shadow is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $200, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the contact button if you are interested in Shadow, and we can arrange for you to meet her.
