Description: HLH was contacted by an individual in our target community about a dog that had a body and face full of porcupine quills and he had been laying near the corner store for close to a week. Our volunteers wasted no time and rushed out to help this poor guy. He was very scared and in so much pain, but the ladies managed to get him into a vehicle and rushed him of to our friends at Guardian Veterinary Centre. Many quills were pulled out that evening, however many had already migrated inside his frail little body. Our President arrived and brought Roger home with her to begin his recovery. He spent the following day with our friends at Crestwood Veterinary Centre and had surgery to remove more quills from his face and body. He has now been in care for 7 weeks and he is doing fantastic. He has put on some much needed weight and is on the road to a wonderful new life. Roger is a bit timid with some new people and moreso with men. He loves women and will melt into a puddle for belly rubs and cuddles. He is very relaxed and loves to lounge in the yard for hours at a time. He loves his dog house. He is very food motivated. He walks amazing on a leash, it just takes a little trust building to get the leash on him. Fully potty trained, never has accidents in the house. He is quite and his foster home has only heard him bark a handful of times. Anyone that adopts this boy will be gaining a loyal loving companion for life and all the doggy cuddles they could possible wish for.
