CANDACE WAS PLACED IN HER NEW HOME 1/26/19. We keep her post up for a short time to make sure it is the perfect match. WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW APPLICATION.
Candace is a 6 year old spayed female Miniature Schnauzer/West Highland Terrier mix that weighs around 20 pounds. She was surrendered to the Howard County Shelter because her owners were moving and could not take her. It seems like she spent much of her time in the basement or yard and was starved for attention. She is nervous at first but when approached on her terms, she is very loving and affectionate. We prefer Candace go to a home with no small children. Due to Candace's past of neglect, little human attention/affection and her lack of socialization she is scared of new dogs and new people and will require a special introduction. She was extremely matted especially her hind parts, she was in pain and was predisposed to bite if she thought she would be hurt. Her foster daddy has been able to groom her, bathe and trim. She is still a bite risk if not handled carefully, she has not bit anyone. She is currently doing well at her foster home with two other dogs. She has not been cat tested.
