Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shadow: ~ 8 year-old male black Lab 70 lbs neutered
Are you the family to give Shadow his home for the holidays and forever?
Background: EVERYONE loves Shadow! His first foster mom adored him. The foster that took him for a week vacation loved him. The foster family who took him in after TPLO thinks he’s the greatest. …so why is this wonderful guy still available for you to adopt? It would be a real Thanksgiving for Shadow if he could be in his forever home in time to celebrate with his new family!
This wonderful boy came to us via the San Jose shelter, along with his sidekick Ace, who has already been adopted. From that first meeting we knew that Shadow was something special: sweet, loving, easy to have around. He’s trustworthy in the house, both to be a good boy and to chill out with another dog. He loves walks (although he does pull) and he’s super easy to hang out with. And he’s crate trained, and will happily hang out in his crate with the door open.
So why hasn’t Shadow found his forever home? Shadow came to us with torn cruciate ligaments in both hind legs. We’ve had the first knee fixed, and he’s rehabbing nicely. Lab Rescue will have the second knee done as soon as he’s recovered from the first. We’d really like him to go to his forever home before the second surgery, so he can recover in a home he his familiar and comfortable with, with the family who will love him forever. He will make a wonderful addition to someone's family. The ideal home will be one story, and have someone who is home a good portion of each day to hang out with Shadow, go for walks, and do his rehab exercises. A pool would be a big asset!
Medical information: Shadow is in overall good health for his age. He is current on his shots, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventive, and micro chipped. And he has a new knee!
Shadow is located in: Belmont
If you are interested in this sweet boy, please contact Rescue Rep Debbi at dragonflydebbi@gmail.com (preferred) or 408.613.2044 (no texts). In your email please tell me about yourself, your dog experience and why you think you’d be a good fit for Shadow.
(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
