Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cleopatra (Cleo) is an approximately 1 year old female. She came to us after her owner could not care for her or her babies. Cleo needed veterinary care after it was noticed that she drank alot of water. She was diagnosed with diabetes central. She get twice daily injections to manage her needs. Luckily, Cleo knows the injections make her feel better and she tolerates them well. She does fine with other cats and okay with dogs too. She will most likely be fine with children too. She is a very animated young cat and is a joy to be around.
Cleo has been diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus also known as Diabetes Central which occurs when the body is unable to produce an adequate amount of the hormone vasopressin. This is NOT diabetes and is not regulated by the body’s blood sugar level. This disease is very easily treated with a hormone injection given to Cleo twice a day. Cleo has come to realize that these injections help her to feel better and she will go sit by the refrigerator each morning and evening waiting for her foster mom to give her the injection. Now that’s what we call one smart kitty!!!
