My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Otter is a beautiful boy. He is approx 3 yrs and 36 lbs.. We are not sure of his breed mix, but he has terrier in him. He is very sweet and gentle, loves people and gets along with all of the other dogs.

When we rescued him, he had some bite marks on his head and legs and had obviously been attacked by another dog. He is all is healed now and he looks great. He did test positive for heart worms and has been treated with the required series of shots. We usually find that the dogs test negative after 4-6 months. He has also been started on a monthly heartworm preventive,

Overall, he is quiet and well behaved, but as a typical terrier, he does like to play and chase the squirrels in the back yard.

OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with no children under the age of 12, and experienced adopters only

The total adoption fee of $525 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a coupon for a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather or from a Massachusetts foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
