****
I was rescued from the streets of Thessaloniki where I was living a harsh life. I was desperately trying to survive and find enough food so that I don’t starve to death. I was also constantly at risk of being poisoned, beaten or even shot. Whilst some people were nice to me and even fed me once in a while, most people shooed me away, and some even tried to beat me. I was living with my siblings in a pack of 6 stray dogs on the street next to a very busy highway. My friends and I frequently crossed the highway, so every day we were at risk of being run over by a car.
Zero Stray Pawject found me in December 2017 and when they started feeding us, I jumped into their car and signaled in a decisive manner my eagerness to find a loving home with humans.
It took ZSP and a bunch of local animal lovers 3 months of careful preparations to first track us down, organize a temporary foster and preparations for having me travel to Athens so that I finally could get off the street. And after 3 months of careful planning, they managed to do so. My siblings by the way are now looked after by local volunteers. Smaller packs have a better chance of not being put down, and ZSP gets updates about their wellbeing.
In March 2018 I flew to Athens where I was kept in a safe place with my sister Mirto for a few months. Unfortunately, though it was impossible for me to find a local home due to the sheer number of stray dogs in Greece all looking for a home. So ZSP decided to fly me to New York to enable me with a better future and I will now be looking for MY forever home.
I was the pack leader and therefore I am a confident dog. I am super friendly with humans and other dogs alike. I am mellow and roll over for belly rubs easily and just want you to pet me. I am young and still playful, but I am not a bouncy dog. I will do well with other dogs and would love to live in the countryside with a big garden. I can also live in an apartment as long as I get frequent walks. I just learned to walk on the leash 3 months ago and whilst I generally walk very well, I may need some more training.
I am brave, loyal, outgoing, sweet-natured, loving, love to cuddle but am at the same time independent-minded. love to explore with my human and generally just want to fit in and find MY home. I am so ready to finally settle down after having to live such a harsh life. I am food motivated and therefore trainable. I am a very easy going dog.
I would ideally love to find a home with my sister Mirto if feasible. We are inseparable and do everything together. I am more confident than Mirto and it would benefit all of us.
