Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there friends, Dory here.
Let me just tell you a little bit about myself so you can see how great I will be to add to your family. My friends think I'm young; just over a year old, maybe two. I’m a little slip of a thing; just 30 pounds.
I was rescued by my friends at BARC from a rural shelter. I was brought there as a stray. Sadly no one came to reclaim me. My friends tell me it wasn't such a bad thing that no one came looking for me. You see I was in pretty bad shape. I had patches of fur missing all over my body, scars on my ears from fly strike, a sore on my neck from an embedded collar and I had heartworms. I bear the tell-tale signs of being bred, and I was very timid. I am still a little hand shy. I don't want to remember the life I had before that made me that way. I don't ever want to be a chained, unloved, breeding machine again.
I am already a different dog thanks to the nice people at BARC. While I have been with my foster family I have been treated for my nasty heartworms. I live with lots of other dogs. They range in age, size and gender. I love, love, love other dogs. I haven't met one I didn't like yet.
I go to the animal shelter where my foster mom works every week to visit all my friends. They have helped Foster Mom socialize me so that I learn to trust people again. I love all my friends. I also get special baths there and I get to socialize with kitties. My Foster Mom and Foster Dad have several little people that come to their house and they say I am a good girl around them.
I am crate trained, potty trained and I walk nicely on a leash. I take treats nicely. I also know sit, down and kennel. My perfect home would have a secure, fenced-in yard so I can feel safe outside.
If I had to say so myself, I would say I'm almost perfect. All I need is my own home where I can be a part of a family that will love me and let me live inside like the rest of the family.
If you are looking for a well rounded pup, look no further, I am your girl. It's me Dory.??
