Hello everyone!! Let me introduce myself, my name is Maxi and I’m a loving, low maintenance, Maximillion Pionus. Florida Parrot Rescue seem to think I am around 6 years young, so we will go with that age. No one knows for sure because my previous family said I was a rescue bird from Key West Fl. My previous family has loved me very much in the time they have had me, but now they are moving into an apartment that doesn’t allow birds ….. how rude is that!!! They didn’t even meet me!!! I did lay an egg one time so I guess that makes me a GIRL!!!
I am a sweet and lovable bird, once I get to know you. I love to sit on your shoulder and walk around the house with you to see what is happening. Oh and I LOVE LOVE those head scritches!!! Oh yeah, you do need to know… I cannot fly!! No one seems to know why, but hey who needs to fly when I have you to carry me on your shoulder. Plus I am so smart that I know how to get down and back up to my cage!!!
Let’s talk about my cage – I don’t like anyone messing with my food dishes, so you have to keep an eye out when trying to place food or water in my dishes. Hey, do like someone else playing with your food dishes?? It would be best if I was in a cage where you could access my food and water dishes from the outside..a win-win situation for both of us!.
When I came into Florida Parrot Rescue, I was on a very bad diet of seeds and all the peanuts I could eat, but now my foster Mommies are doing a good job getting me to eat Zupreem pellets and no peanuts. They know that peanuts can be very harmful to birds. I’m not happy about this stuffed called “chop” that they keep trying to feed me nor other bird friendly “people” food, but they keep trying.

An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. Adoption fees include the bird's cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
