Toffee is a retired racing Greyhound. She has special medical needs. She has Discoid Lupus, which is an autoimmune disease that affects the dermis (skin). As you can see in her photo it affects the skin on her nose. Also, it looks like she is going to be prone to corns on her feet, which can also be part of this type of Lupus. She is currently under a veterinarian’s care and taking a medication to clear up the scabs, then we will be using an ointment to keep it under control.

Greyhounds are a gentle, sensitive breed. They have good temperaments and make ideal house pets because they love being near people, they are clean, quiet, undemanding, and take up a small amount of space (in spite of their size). Greyhounds actually need a small amount of exercise relative to other dog breeds. Most Greyhounds can be found lying around the house napping!
