My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joy 1 is a quiet and shy adult calico (Birthday 4/1/2018). This beautiful little girl is a real sweetie who loves to observe her foster family from her favorite perch on her cat tree. Joy 1 needs a quiet home with adopters who are willing to socialize Joy on her schedule. She will need time to get used to and feel safe in her new surroundings. Once comfortable, her sweet personality will shine. Patience pays off with Joy! She would do best in a quiet household with another mellow kitten or cat. She needs an experienced adopter with another cat in the home, who will understand that Joy will need to tell you when she's ready for affection. She will need to be crated initially and then gradually be given room to explore. She cannot go to a home with children or loud dogs. She doesn’t tolerate being picked up so she would require a creative approach to vet visits. One option is an in-home vet. Another is that you can work with your vet to schedule a sedated exam or use Gabapentin to relax them. Please note any previous experience socializing timid/shy cats on your application.

NOTE: Please include details in your application regarding experience socializing extremely shy cats.

This cat is currently in a foster home so if you would like to meet them please fill out an adoption application. They can be found at www.angelcathaven.com and can be filled out online, faxed to 617-488-2239 or emailed to cats@angelcathaven.com.

**A special note: given the current social restrictions we are under due to COVID-19, the adoption process will be a longer one than usual to insure the health and safety of everyone involved.**

More about this rescue

Angelcat Haven is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing cats that are in need of a HAVEN while waiting for their loving new homes. We have rescued over 1030 cats since 2006!

This organization was formed to save a 4 month old stray kitten named Maddie, who was turned away from another shelter. With a wound of an unknown origin, (requiring a 6 month quarantine) and a broken leg. We fought for 5 days to save her and could not. Some stories do not have happy endings. Although she was small, she had a huge impact on our lives - she is our Angelcat. Our mission is to help the cats who fall through the cracks when existing shelters don't have room.

We strive to reduce overpopulation through education, by promoting reduced cost spay-neuter programs, and instituting community trap and rescue programs. Every effort is made to work with and socialize the stray, abandoned and feral cats we rescue so that they can live out their lives in a warm, loving home.
