Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
He loves looking out the window watching his birdy friends at the feeder and “ooofing” at the squirrels cutting in on the feast. Moaning and groaning in pleasure as he rolls around on his big soft comfy bed, “it feels soooo good!!”. Marching (yes . . . marching) behind you on the off-chance that there may be a treat involved in wherever you are headed and then giving you that totally irresistible “awwww pleeeeease” look that gets him a treat or two every time!! This charming, quant, old (excuse me . . . mature) Shih Tzu, his name is Max, but we lovingly call him Grandpa, was born on January 31st, 2007. A remarkable senior citizen, just don’t call him OLD!! There’s a lot of life in this sweet, happy-go-lucky guy. Twenty pounds of love; with a handsome soft non shedding gray and white coat and the biggest saddest most compelling eyes that will steal your heart in a heartbeat. A real CHARACTER . . . personality plus!! Move in ready, gentle mannered, house trained, walks well on leash, what more could you want??? Loosely jointed and a bit of a klutz (don’t tell him I said that!!) Max has arthritis (it comes with age) so he is on joint supplements and pain medication. He may be a bit slow but he still manages to climb on the furniture and handle the stairs. Max arrived at the Safehouse on 03/24/2018. He had one owner his whole life and a doggy brother. His owner died and his brother has found another home. Our poor old-timer was in danger of losing his sight and needed immediate eye surgery; it was a complete success and his eyes have recovered nicely, although he does require daily eye drops. Administration is never a problem with Max as long as we remember the follow up treat!! Are you ready for a calm, quiet, mature relationship, a good friend and couch-mate, a companion to share leisurely walks and evenings in front of the fire and a wagging tail to welcome you home? Max has a lot of love left to give. Will you let him give it to you? Max has had a complete physical and dental, he is healthy and neutered, has a microchip, is current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $300. .
