Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lovely Lena is a beautiful American Bulldog girl with lots of love to give. Here are 10 things Ms. Lena wants her new family to know about her:
1) I am almost two years old, and I’m still very much a puppy at heart. I’m very eager to please and I like to learn new stuff.
2) I am a playful, easy-going, affectionate girl, and when I’m happy, I wag my whole body!
3) Before I came to rescue, I was homeless. I lived on the streets and had never been inside a house. Although I’m definitely getting the hang of being indoors, I still sometimes get scared about common household sounds and movements, like chairs being pulled out, ceiling fans, and tv noises. My perfect home should be understanding and willing to work with me to build my confidence.
4) I like people of all sizes, but I would probably be most successful in a home with children older than 7 due to my energy level.
5) I want to be friends with dogs, but I’m not really sure how to interact with them. Because I was all alone as a stray, I had to pretend to be tough when other dogs were mean to me, even though I’m really very nice. I think my best place would be a home with no other dogs, or maybe a family with a large, laid-back male that they could introduce me to slowly.
6) My first foster home had several cats, and at first, I really liked to terrorize them. But my foster mom had lots of talks with me about leaving them alone, and now I know that I have to ignore them. I think that I could live in a feline-friendly household, as long as my forever family would be able to supervise and reinforce my training.
7) I know basic obedience and am good on a leash! I’ve also been practicing housebreaking and crate training, and just need to perfect these skills in my new home.
8) Sometimes when I get excited, I try to jump up on my people. My foster mom has been working with me lots and I’m getting much better, but I may need a reminder every once in a while from my forever family.
9) I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed.
10) I have started heartworm treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home.

Ready to give Lena the forever home of her dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab.
We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog youâre interested in is a good match.
Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a âperfect placementâ so we know that they will not be failed again.
