Waffles is part of a bonded pair, so we have listed both dogs' info below.
They were very loved by their previous owners who had them since they were puppies, but had to come into rescue because of some changes in their people’s lives. They are 4 year old shih tzu mixes and we would prefer they be rehomed as a pair. Waffles is a little too interested in cats, so, for your feline’s sanity, we don’t believe a home with cats is the appropriate one for them. They lived with a young child, who Waffles was quite fond of, but, as small guys, they would need a home with kids who understand good boundaries. They have lived with other dogs before (small male and large male) and they were fine together. If your pup is definitely the top dog in your house, Bongo and Waffles probably won't be a good match They are potty trained, neutered, up to date on vaccines & preventatives, and are microchipped.
The boys know “treat” and “crate”, which are the 2 most important words for any dog to know! They’re not interested in regular dog commands, but Waffles would be able to learn them quickly since he’s very food-motivated. Bongo will probably just watch you from the couch, but will still accept your treats.
Waffles (white chest) has a tail that is always wagging! He can be described as energetic, cuddly, happy and a little anxious. He’s not so sure about strangers, but as soon as you’ve passed inspection, he’s ready for you to pick him up. He has a “little man” syndrome, so he likes to be the boss with his other dog friends. He can be a little possessive of your lap once he’s comfortable, so if your home already has dogs, they’d need to be okay with a little man in charge.
Bongo (all black) was described to us by his former owner quiet, easy-going, lazy, and stubborn. He likes to play hard to get: he wants to be with you, but doesn’t want you to know it. He’s also a bit of a couch potato. He’s very friendly to everyone and loves attention.
Their adoption fee is $200 (total) and we do require an application, reference check, and home visit. If you’re interested in adding these cuties to your family, please send us an email at aruffhouse@gmail.com for an application.
