My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Brian. Some people call me a chi-weenie. I'm about 2 years old and weigh 23 pounds.

Foster mom says I haven't yet had a chance to live a normal dog life. I was picked up as a stray in Arkansas and brought here by Ruff Life for heartworm treatments and rescue. The last few months I have had to spend a lot of quiet time in a pen while the heartworms died. Every month I would go to this fun place called "the vet" for my heartworm treatments. Wow is that place fun! All the people there are super nice and I get to meet new dogs.

Foster mom has a rule that all dogs must be in a crate when going for a car ride. That's okay with me, I rest quietly for the whole drive.

Sometimes we go to a friend's farm. He has these interesting animals called "barn cats". One of the barn cats is my friend but the other barn cat is grumpy.

Foster mom says I'm a good boy for doing my job quickly when I go outside and I'm not a "marker" indoors. I had a bad seizure after my last heartworm treatment so I need to be on medication for life. The medicine seems to be working because I've never had another seizure and I feel great. She gives me my medicine in cheese twice a day. I really like that! I'll do just about anything for food!

I'm learning sit, down, wait, and take food gently. I like walking on a leash, playing tug and fetch. Sometimes people I don't know come into the house and I have to bark to let foster mom know. She tells me it's okay and the people are always nice when I go to say hi. That makes me a super happy, wriggly, tail wagging fool. It's especially great if they sit on the couch with me.

It's been a long trip from the streets of Arkansas to a home and health in the Quad Cities. There's still one place I want to go and that is a place I can call my forever home. I'm hoping to find someone who understands my special needs. Maybe even a home with another dog!

Brian's adoption fee is $250.
