Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What can I tell you about Merlot? Merlot is a very handsome, lean young man with surprisingly long legs and a gorgeous chocolate coat, although he does have a tiny white vest. He has one ear standing up and one which folds down somewhere near the top. He is 2.5 years old and 10lbs. Merlot has had surgery for an injured hip and knee and is 100% recovered. I have seen him lift the leg on occasion, usually when we are outside, but it does not slow him down. Merlot is an active- to very-active dog, and he would do very well in a house with another active dog and/or older children to play with him. His favourite game right now is tag with the house dog, up and down the apartment hallway, but h is a great wrestler too. He goes to bed with the humans, slipping under the covers until morning. Merlot is a multi-person dog. He will cuddle and shadow whomever is available. He loves belly rubs and will let you know if he has not had enough petting.
Merlot continues to settle in each day. He is much better walking on a leash now and loves being outdoors. Merlot is an excellent eater and enjoys his kibble. Merlot is what I call a "coffee-table" surfer which is a condition where he thinks the coffee-table is merely an extension of the sofa and worthy of his attention. Merlot has not barked very much while with me. As with any small dog, especially with a previous injury, I would not recommend small children. Merlot is pee-pad trained and close to being outdoor trained. We are now at the point where he will wait and pee outside but continues to use the pee-pad for number two. I suspect he would do well in a yard off a leash. If I don't get him out quick enough in the morning, he will use the pee-pad for both, and although he tries, his aim on the pee-pad is not always the greatest. In the car Merlot curls up on the seat beside you and goes to sleep until you arrive at your destination.
Merlot has been in foster care for some time, not only here but also in Texas. He is going to make a wonderful addition to somebody's family. Merlot is being fostered in southwestern Ontario.
