Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This gorgeous boy was rescued on the day he was to be euthanized at a local shelter. He was found as a stray and no owner came to reclaim him nor was there any interest in him because he was blowing his coat and it made him look mangy which he is not.
Balto is a wonderful dog - affectionate, happy, social, loyal and loves his people. He would love nothing more than to be with his human companion all day long. He loves to go on walks and is good with older children. We have JR volunteers that walk him and he enjoys their company. One day, one of them fell down and Balto ran up to check her out and gave her kisses on the face to make sure she was ok.
Balto was brought to one of our volunteer's home to be tested with other dogs. He loves to play with the females. Male dogs are ok as long as they are not pushy or dominant, however, he would be best placed with an easy going female for living arrangements and possibly supervised play dates with males.
We don't know for sure if Balto is potty trained. He did come into the house and was very curious and investigated the whole home. He did not have an accident while inside. During his transport, he whined about half way to home and let us know he had to go. We let him out and he did his business right away. So, it appears he likes to keep his area clean. With some patience and training, he should be fine. We adopted a dog that had lived outside for the first 9 years of his life. He had one accident on his first day being in the home and we knew he had to be taken out a lot for the first week but he transitioned just fine. He loved being indoors!
Balto will make a great companion and family member to someone special. He will be loyal to you to the end.
