Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Baron is now available for adoption, and he’s a special boy for lots of reasons. He lived the first year and nine months of his life in a cage. Nobody played with him, he didn’t get to play outside, nobody even touched him. For the past couple of months he’s been in a foster home trying to learn how to be a dog. But he was so scared that he wouldn’t let anyone come near.
Then he got sick with a bowel obstruction...really sick. The doctors said he probably wasn’t going to make it. But nobody was ready to give up on him. And he fought for his life because he knew someday he would find a family who would make him feel loved and safe. He stayed at the hospital for so long that he started to think that was his home. But he got better... slowly and with the help of lots of friends and supporters.
And through all of this, he’s had an amazing transformation. He follows foster mom everywhere, getting hugs and kisses and even goes shopping and lets people pet him. There’s no doubt, the world is still a scary place and every new experience causes him to have to work through his fears, but he’s getting more confident every day.
Baron is looking for a special family...one with patience and love, who understands what he’s been through and will continue to teach him that he can trust.
He also needs a doggy friend in his new family because he feels more confident and safe around other dogs. He like kids, too, as long as they’re a little bit older because fast movements scare him. He doesn’t pay much attention to cats, at least the ones he seen when out and about.
Baron has had all of his shots and is neutered and microchipped.
He is being fostered in the Kansas City Missouri area. he will need a fenced yard in his new home to keep him safe. If you would like to learn more about him, please fill out an application.
