Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Say hello to Rufus. He is an adorable 10 month old Parti-Yorkie Biewer puppy who weighs approximately 11 lbs. Rufus is being fostered in Odessa, FL.
UPDATED BIO 07/01/2018: Rufus has been in his foster home for a couple of weeks now. He was surrendered by his owners who loved him very much, but they were no longer able to care for him as a puppy should be cared for and wanted a happier life for him.
Rufus is a very sweet, affectionate and playful little puppy. He LOVES playing and cuddling with people and other dogs. He still needs constant reinforcement and reminders in the house-training department. His foster parents are working with teaching him to focus when he’s outside and to do his business before playtime. He is getting used to his crate which is a safe place for him to be when no one is home, but he will still whine and bark when left alone, so his foster parents are also working with him on this as well.
Rufus’ perfect home would be one where there is at least one stay-at-home parent who can initiate a strict schedule for his potty time. He is so young and full of energy that he wants to run around and play and he forgets to do his business when outside. A fenced-in yard would be a big BONUS since he needs to expel his puppy energy. He is also a door dasher and if he sees an tiny opening in the door, he will rambo his head through it and away he goes!
Rufus would also enjoy having children to play with - as long as they were older than 10 years old and understand that he still needs to learn about being a well-behaved puppy.
INITIAL BIO 06/16/2017: Rufus just arrived in his foster home today and is getting acquainted with the other animals in the home. He was reluctantly surrendered by his owners who loved him very much, but their life circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for Rufus and wanted a happier life for him.
Rufus is a very sweet, affectionate and typically playful little pup. He LOVES playing and cuddling with people and other dogs. Rufus needs a little reinforcement in the house-training department, but does do his business outside - most of the time. He is young and gets excited about going outside, and may forget why he is there, lol! His foster parents will be working with teaching him to focus when he's outside and to go potty before playtime.
Rufus can be an escape artist when the door is open, so he needs a home where he will receive consistent training on his "stay" command. He goes willingly into his crate if he is given the "place" command and of course, he knows he will get a treat once he obeys. He's still a very young puppy and is anxious to learn and please his humans.
Because Rufus is so young and playful, the ideal home for him would be with another dog close to his size and age so that he could learn proper puppy manners and have a buddy to rough-house with. A fenced-in yard would be a great bonus so that he can take his sweet time running, sniffing, going potty, etc. before he has to come in. The fenced yard is not a deal-breaker as long as he is taken on frequent walks. He would also enjoy having children to play with - as long as they were older than 10 years old and understand that he still needs to learn about being a well-behaved puppy.
