Ariel is a black-banded, long-haired female Syrian hamster who is about 8-9 months old. She is categorized as a special needs hamster as she requires a specialized environment and an experienced hamster person to continue working with her.
She enjoys taking sand baths and chews on everything and anything that she can get her little paws on. She is hand tamed but still needs to be worked with regularly as she only recently became hand tamed. She will need someone with the time and patience to keep working with her and keep the progress with her hand taming going or she may regress. While she has made lots of strides with taming, she can still be a little skittish when first opening the cage.
She needs a large wheel and a very large cage, larger than the minimum floorspace requirements for hamsters (which is 450 square inches) or she will get bored and bar chew. She does get bored easily and will show signs of stress and severe boredom if that cage is smaller than 700-800 square inches. She must have a cage that is double, the bigger the better for her, of uninterrupted floorspace (levels do not count in the overall amount of floorspace).
Ariel comes with her wheel, sand bath house, wooden chews, Whimzees chews, a small bag of her food, a water bottle and her houses.
The adoption fee for Ariel is $10. We also ask that anyone adopting her lives a reasonable driving distance from Mt. Airy, MD. Are you interested in finding out more about this lovable lady?
