Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Olaf ( I got my name from the movie Frozen) and I am a 4 year old, sable and white rough collie. I love warm hugs, especially from kids and I watch over my the kids in my foster home by making my rounds in the house every night to make sure the they are asleep before I settle down for cuddles and rump rubs. I love my people and I especially enjoy going for walks with them. My foster calls me a sled dog because I have a nice steady gait on the leash; no tugging, straining or jerking. I also love to play fetch with a ball and i will play forever if you will play with me. I love being outside and playing with the dog in my foster home and I will let you know when I am ready for outside playtime or a potty break. I am house trained, sit on command and come most of the time when called, even if I am chasing a rabbit down the street.
I do have some struggles- no body is perfect right? I can be a barker when there is activity around or near my yard so sometimes I have to come inside. I will bark and whine when I am hungry or thirsty and i still get cranky when the other dog in the household comes near my food or treats, so I need to be fed by myself while enjoying my food and be respectful at the same time. I am also working on taking treats gently. I love food and treats and I get so excited when I know food or treats are close by. Car rides make me nervous, but I settle down a bit when I can see out the window. Groom tables are the scariest thing I'ver been on, but I do tolerate being groomed on the floor or ground. (Maybe a professional should groom me.) I am also learning to ask nicely for attention and not paw people. All in all I am a great collie who needs a home with children (preferable with at least one not yet in school) and someone home most of the time. I also need a female doggy playmate so when there are no children at home I still have a companion.
Please DO NOT apply unless you have children at home, someone is home most of the time and there is a female doggy companion for me. An application and terms of adoption can be found at www.dfwcollierescue.org. After applying a home visit will be scheduled and references will be checked. There is an adoption fee and a small fee to register my microchip. I am neutered, current on shots and on heartworm preventive. I am being fostered in Prosper, Tx. (north of Dallas) and you can email kadibug2006@gmail.com for more info. I's so excited to meet my new family, is that you?
