Harvey and Candy were surrendered to BunnyPeople in early summer 2018 because their owners could no longer afford to continue caring for them. This is the second time Harvey has been surrendered to BunnyPeople - he originally came to us in 2014 as an unwanted Easter present - just one reason we try to advocate against purchasing bunnies for Easter. Now that Harvey is bonded with Candy, the two will need to be adopted together.
During Harvey’s first stay with BunnyPeople, volunteers nicknamed him Half n Half! He must be a lop mix, because one of his ears sticks up, and the other is flopped down. His bun-wife Candy is a lop too, and so far we haven't caught her teasing her husbun about his "helicopter ears." Harvey is the older bunny of the pair - he was born in December 2013, and Candy was born in September 2016.
Harvey has a rectal papilloma, which looks like a raspberry on his anus where it can’t be surgically removed. It doesn’t cause Harvey any pain or problems, but these types of growths have the potential to become cancerous over time. Also, due to poor nutrition at a young age, enamel didn't form on two of Harvey’s lower teeth. Because of his medical issues, Harvey (and Candy) are not available for adoption, but you can sponsor some of their care by using the "Donate to this Rescue" button at the bottom of his page. Thank you!

More about this rescue
BunnyPeople was established as a 501(c)3 rabbit rescue, adoption and education organization in 1992. We operate a no-kill shelter that houses approximately 22 rabbits at any given time. While in our care, the rabbits receive a proper diet, exercise, human companionship and any medical attention needed until they are adopted. We strive to educate the public on responsible rabbit ownership, including guidelines on choosing a rabbit and proper care for these indoor pets. We discourage the purchase of rabbits as Easter gifts, since many are dumped a few months later. We also promote spaying and neutering not only for population control, but for the better health and longevity of each animal.
