Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Casper was a ghost of a guy...slipping in and out of sight in the night before you were sure you saw him. He was spotted living on the streets by a rescuer in Austin near her home in September of 2017. After months of secret night stalking, she eventually found that some very nice folks had been feeding Casper. They agreed to help us get this elusive guy off the streets and let us set a trap and we finally got our guy in early May. We know that he was at a shelter in February of 2016 by his microchip. After that, his story, between the shelter and the trap is a mystery.
So, yep...after at least 8 months on his own, through snow and several bad storms, and in a collar that became way too tight along the way, he was understandably skittish and scared when he was foiled by the trap. We took him directly to ATX K9 Dog Training, where some trainers who specialize in fractious dogs have been working their magic on him. Casper started to come out of his street-mode behavior very quickly. In only a few days, he was giving kisses and wagging his tail. It's always amazing what a little love and safety can do.
After a month with the trainers, Casper is now with a foster family where he lives with three dog brothers and is having the time of his life! He's incredibly sweet and gentle, gets along with pretty much anyone who is nice to him, including other dogs, cats and kids, and just needs some love and understanding to help him live his best life. We think he's about 3, is heartworm negative, neutered, and had all the vetting he needs for now. So all he needs is love. Oh and food. He loves food. :) If you can give him those two things, he'll be your forever guy.
