My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please meet Wendy, a 5 1/2 yr old boxer. It has been determined that Wendy and her daughter Angie would be happier if they were NOT adopted together as previously stated. Wendy is from Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria that devastated the island also devastated it’s inhabitants. human & canine. Wendy & her daughter were dropped off at a cantina & watched as their people drove off. Let’s think a minute…many islanders had no electricity, water, food, etc after the hurricane slammed into Puerto Rico. Many islanders were able to leave following the hurricane with only the clothes on their backs. Those that stayed, in many cases (unless in the tourist areas) have nothing & have been & continue to rebuild from scratch! I for one, can only imagine the fear & anxiety one faces in such a situation. Wendy & her daughter, we believe, were dropped at the cantina as their family was probably no longer able to care for them as evidenced by their emaciated state. their peeps did the best thing for them, when you think about it// dropped them at an area that was bustling with people, in the hopes they would find someone to care for them. Enter Rescue/animal lovers & people willing to help. Eventually, this small band of animal lovers along with a missionary, named Wendy, were able to gain the trust of these two beauties, & Mom, with daughter in tow, hopped into a car for a ride to the vets! Through some donations from the mainland, Wendy was vetted, spayed & treated for heartworm. Fassa’s Friends incurred the cost for daughter’s heartworm treatment. Wendy is cleared for travel right now, however, she is in need of a foster or adoptive home. We have no open fosters for her. We would like to bring her to the states asap bdfore hurricane season which started 6/1 becomes active. She has already been through One! Wendy is happy, tail always wagging! She appears to be potty trained, & walks fairly well on leash. She loves people & we are told good with other dogs. As we find out more, we will keep you posted. If you are interested in meeting this Puerto Rican pair when they arrive state-side, please visit www.fassasfriendsboxerrescue.com to complete an adoption application found under the Adoption tab at the top of the website's page. If you have already done so and are approved, simply email us at fassasfriends@gmail.com with your name, approval status and The Bonded Pair in the subject line. If you would like to donate for Wendy'scare until we can move her to the mainland, please do so by clicking on paypal on our website www.fassasfriendsboxerrescue.com & typing "Wendy" the comments/notes section. Our thoughts & prayers go out to the people of Puerto Rico & to those with so little who found it in their hearts to make a difference for Wendy & her daughter Angie.
