My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I admit it: We have a soft spot for puppy mamas. When Dixie came into a local shelter and they discovered she was very pregnant, they put her on the euthanasia list as they didn’t have the resources to care for a mama and newborn puppies. We scooped her up on euth day and brought her to one of our fosters. The very next day, she gave birth to five healthy, fat puppies. She was a wonderful mama to those puppies. Now that mama’s work is done, we need to find her a home.

Dixie is a 3 year old mix. A very sweet and sociable girl. She loves people—all people!

Her favorite activity is a walk and when she’s out in public he will greet people and children with a friendly approach and the hope of a pat on her head. At her foster home, she’s got a couple of rambunctious kids to play with and that suits her very nicely. She loves to play ball. Throw it, bring it back. Throw it, bring it back. Throw it, bring it back. You get the idea. She will continue to play as long as you have the arm strength to throw the ball.

Dixie has her manners down. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She is polite around company. She rarely barks. And she is non-destructive around the house.

When she tires of play, Dixie likes to snuggle with anyone and everyone. (Here’s where a house full of people comes in handy.) She is very affectionate and wants to be next to her people. While she’s sitting beside you, if you were to, say, move a hand over her way and start a little belly rub action, she would not object. She likes to have his ears scratched, too. She’s not a kissy dog, but if you are very, very good, you might occasionally snag a little lick.

Dixie will make a perfect family pet. She is so happy for any attention she gets and will reward her family with loyalty and doggie love.
