Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET Buddy -
Buddy is a 1 year, 7 month old, 16 lb. black & tan, short hair, tweenie AKC doxie. Hes neutered, healthy, potty trained, and up to date on all his shots. If your doxie saavy and looking for an awesome puppy than Buddy is your man! He is the best little squirrel hunter in the Pacific Northwest! This handsome boy is full of endless love and kisses, & wags his tail 24/7! Hes very smart and eager to learn and please, but would benefit from training/puppy classes. Buddy will do best in a doxie saavy home without other dogs, young kids or cats, where someone will be home often/stay at home. Since hes very protective of his owner he will need training on barking at strangers/door bell, etc, so its best to put him in his crate, hes totally crate trained. He likes sleeping in his big crate at night filled with blankets and a bully stick, but would also love to burrow & snuggle in your bed. He even puts his paw on your leg as he cuddles with u and gives u tons of kisses! He has a cute little blue baby blanket he likes to carry around! He is such a regal, muscular, handsome little gentleman! Buddy loves playing with his toys, tug-a-war, and getting some cuddles/puppy love from you! This young sweet special pup has so much potential and so many years of love to give, he will be your co-pilot and stay at your side all day! Buddy has a fun personality, he's very intelligent, sweet, loving and just an overall great pup!
Buddy will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, Buddy is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Buddy needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $595, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give Buddy a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
