Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Greetings,
My name is Mack they call me Mighty Mack I am an Owner surrender they did love me very much but could no longer take care of me due to the economy. Thank goodness the English Bulldog Rescue Network was called.
They call me Mighty Mack because I have lived outside for most of my life 7 yrs. in the extreme heat, humidity, and cold as you are aware Bulldogs Can Not Live Outside my shelter was a Vari kennel. I am now with my Foster Mom in a warm house with a bed, toys what more can a Handsome Fella like me ask for. My Mom is teaching me how to be an inside dog, still have aways to go since I am not house broken but should learn quick we are using the crate method. Since living outdoors most of my life with little human contact I need to learn some manners my neuter will help with that. I have a Dr. appointment next week to get all my shots, heart worm test, micro chipped a full exam. One more thing about me my Foster Mom is teaching me English I only understand the Korean language Mom is helping me by using sign language.
I will keep you posted on my progress.
Your Friend, Mighty Mack
Update on Mack 4/14/09
Hi Everyone,
Mack is continuing to do great. He is really fitting in well with our family. He has definitely made the transition from outdoor dog to indoor couch potato. Mack is a very calm and cool guy. He is not aggressive AT ALL. He has not reacted to the vacuum cleaner or sweeper. He even saw a cat the other day and just checked him out. I am very proud of him.
He is still not found of walking in the grass or doing his business in the back yard. We have become accustomed to taking him out in the front yard. He does sit in front of the front door when he needs to go out. He has been sleeping outside of his crate with mostly no accidents. He has had a few though so he still needs someone to work with him on the potty training.
Mack is very playful with his human and canine friends. He chases the other dogs and loves to play with toys. I think he is doing well with learning commands. He will sit and go to his bed if you have a treat. Mack also does very well in the bathtub also.
I have to say that he is a totally different dog from when we picked him up. There is no ‘humping’ whatsoever anymore. He would rather sit in your lap and be petted than anything else. Mack thinks he is a lap dog. He will climb into your lap and sit with you. He is very affectionate and give kisses. He still has bad breath so you gotta watch out.
We are all definitely enjoying him being here in our home. He will definitely make a great pet for someone or a family. I believe that he would be good with kids age 5 or older.
Update on Mack 3/11/09
This is from Mack’s Foster Mom:
I wanted to give an update on Mack. He is doing wonderful. He was neutered two weeks ago and the ‘humping’ has practically stopped. Every now and then he gets over excited but he is so calm and cool now.
As you all know, he was an outside dog. Well now he is definitely an inside dog. I have a hard time getting him to go outside and he doesn’t seem to like to step in the grass.
We have made some progress on the housebreaking but he still has accidents now and then.
Mack gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with toys. He attended the Houston SPCA Mutt Strut and had a fabulous time. He was a very well behaved little boy.
He is not toy aggressive but will make sure everyone knows that is his toy. We play fetch and he loves it then shakes his head with the toy in his mouth. He does not even react to the broom or sweeper.
He is not food aggressive but I try to keep everyone interested in their own food. He loves milk bone treats and has learned to ‘sit’. I also think he is picking up ‘outside’.
Mack is a very smart boy and loves to crawl in your lap and snuggle. He is the sweetest thing.
I am so proud of the progress he has made in just a short amount of time. We are really enjoying having him around. We are still working on his house breaking issue's. He has not had any accident's in his crate. Mack loves to ride in the car and go for walks.
