Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Willow, she is a spayed 8 month old German Shepherd x Rottweiler. Willow came to Revolutionary Rescue as a 6 month old puppy who was being mishandled by her previous owners. Willow was "trained" using a prong collar and thus began to demonstrate a lot of frustration. When we heard Willow was at risk of being put down at such a young age we decided to welcome her to our rescue.
Willow is now an extremely happy goofy puppy, the way she was meant to be. Willow has learned to trust again and is becoming a brand new dog. Willow absolutely loves going on off leash hikes where she can jump in the creek and run around free. Willow is being fostered with another large dog who she loves to play with. Willow is a high energy dog so we believe she would do best in a home with another large playful dog who can match her play style. Willow frequently walks in public areas where she has had no issues meeting new strange dogs of all sizes. Willow will sometimes bark at new people but warms up very quickly with a treat.
Willow was once quite reactive on leash because of her past but she now walks very well in her front clipping harness. She loves to go for runs with her foster Mom and keeps at a steady pace. Willow is learning all her new tricks using only positive reinforcement. We are asking that Willow's new home enrol in a training program with an approved positive reinforcement trainer. The progress Willow has made in only 3 months is astounding. What was once a fearful and frustrated puppy is now a happy, goofy, playful dog. Willow was surrendered due to guarding behaviours toward her previous handler however we have not observed this since in our care. For that reason we will be placing Willow in a home with no children. We have no issues taking toys and bones from Willow, however she can get into things around the house. Willow has been trained to walk briskly on a treadmill, hike both off and on leash and is now jogging. Willow is the type of dog who benefits from mental stimulation. Playing games and teaching her new tricks is a perfect way to tire her brain so she can chill with you while you watch TV.
Willow is crate trained and enjoys her chill out time. Willow is fully potty trained and is currently eating a high quality grain free diet. Willow is also taking a CBD oil meant for dogs to help her to stay calm. Willow is searching for her perfect match where she will continue to live an active happy life for her whole life.
We want to stress that this beautiful girl must be adopted to a positive training environment. Willow was handled using tools such as a prong collar and verbal punishment for unwanted behaviour. Now, Willow's world is much brighter as she learns freely to make the right choices and is rewarded for offering desirable actions. When handled appropriately Willow is an amazing companion. She is looking for her partner in crime, someone who is willing to show her how to trust and love again. Her new adoptive home will be home more often than not, have no young children, be willing to complete and maintain life long training. Adoption fee $400.00
