My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

His original name while awaiting rescue from Devore Shelter back in July of 2013, was Burdock but his foster mom felt that name didn’t suit. Bertie was much better - and so Bertie, he became!

Bertie had the most wonderful mom for the first 4 years of his life. She started out as his foster mom but it didn’t take long before she decided she couldn’t be parted from him and adopted him. Unfortunately, life had other ideas. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away in early January of 2018. Her last wish was all her adopted and foster kids find amazing forever homes. Once a Kitty Devore Rescue kitty, always a Kitty Devore Rescue kitty, we say. Bertie was welcomed back into KD foster care with open arms.

Bertie is a big beautiful, long-legged silver boy. His new foster mom describes him as a gentle giant. Unfortunately, because he’s such an easy-going guy, he’s occasionally picked on by other cats. He would do best as either an only kitty or in a home with other kitties who are mild-mannered as he. Although he wasn’t used to dogs initially, he’s currently living in a foster home with several and has learned to co-habitate with them quite well. He’d get along just fine in a home with respectful dogs. Most of all, Bertie love people - and loves laps, making biscuits and roast chicken if you’d be willing to share.

More than anything else, Bertie wants to be loved in a safe environment with people who will provide a full lifetime of love and stability for him.
