Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Peter Pan is an EXPLORER and will be wonderful in an active family with older children who like to go on hiking trails and long walks in the countryside. He is a sweet and a mellow dog, who is good-natured. He is looking for a home in NY, NJ, PA or CT. ***
“I am Peter Pan and am told that I am one of the most elegant dogs with my long legs and slim body. I am an exceptionally good-natured and calm dog and will be happy with a family in the countryside or even in the city as long as I will get many daily long walks to the park or in the countryside. I would be great in a family with another dog, but can also live as the only dog.
I am an EXPLORER! I thrive on going on long walks and explore all those different smells. At home I am mellow, and love to lay in my dog bed and dream about my last hiking trip. I must have been owned by a family with children roughly aged 6-12 years old, as every time I see children that age I go up to them. So, as an additional bonus, it would be great if my new family had children that age, but it is not mandatory. I am looking for a loving home in PA, NJ, NY, CT ASAP
My story is sad, but my future is bright.
I was spotted by ZSP in April 2017 limping with a broken leg in the National Garden in Athens, Greece. I was alone, hungry and very thin. I am a very friendly dog and went up to every family with children, seemingly searching for MY kids that I had lost – at least it seemed that way for those who observed me. It was heartbreaking for ZSP to watch me going up to every family in despair to find MY old family. That is why everybody assumes that I may have been owned by a family with children who then just abandoned him. I rolled over for belly rubs and afterwards continued onwards in my daily fight for survival on the street.
Sadly, one day two men started kicking and beating me. I had looked for MY children again and these two men did not like what I did. But I am such a mellow and peaceful dog that I did not even fight back, but just screamed in agony. ZSP was there and intervened and called the police. I escaped and crawled up with my broken paw. It took ZSP some time to find me, but they did and got me into safety in their partner shelter in Aegina where I lived for almost one year until April 1st2018.
But I am just not a shelter dog and really longed for my own family.
So, on April 2nd 2018, I finally flew with ZSP members to New York and am currently fostered by ZSP’s dog trainers in NYC where I receive some basic training.
I am an exceptionally sweet-natured dog. I am very tall and enormously elegant. I am super friendly with people and love children. I am an independent and mellow dog, who doesn’t ask for much and who can easily stay on my own. I do not show any separation anxiety. Nobody has ever heard me barking. I love long walks and like to thoroughly investigate all those smells. I walk impeccable on the leash (another sign that I must have been owned in the past). Once I trust you, I will roll over for you to get some of those wonderful belly rubs and cuddles, which I enjoy so much. I am almost house broken.
I get on well with other dogs and will make a wonderful companion to any family with or without children, with or without other dogs. Important is that I get walks and a ton of love.
Woof woof”
Peter Pan is tall and weighs 60 pounds.
