My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! I'm Mable! I love sitting in laps and keeping people company. I am very clever and curious. I like to explore a little and follow people around when they go for walks. I am a really easy gal to get along with. I walk really easy too. I am a senior gal and I believe in aging gracefully. True, my eyesight isn't as good as it once was (I have cataracts) - but that doesn't mean I can't see - it's just not as clear as it once was. They don't make glasses for dogs my age. But even if they did, it wouldn't matter to me, because what's important to me is getting to spend time with really nice people and enjoying the moment. I would love a chance to be the grandma of your home. I promise to take real good care of you... will you take care of me? You know... they say that it takes a very special person to adopt a senior dog.... I'm hoping that very special person will be you and you will adopt me. I am house trained, but I sometimes have the occasional accident if I don't get to go outside when I need too (it happens to us older gals).

Adoption fee is $50 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, 30-days pet health insurance, vaccinations, worming and a vet visit voucher. Some of our dogs have also had heartworm tests, flea treatments, canine influenza vaccines, etc., but it is not standard procedure - please inquire about the specific animal you are interested in.

Also, some animals may not have been spayed/neutered at the time they are posted for adoption, but it is included in the adoption fee. And no worries, we have weekly surgery appointments with our vet on Wednesdays and Fridays, so the wait from adoption to going home wouldn't be long. They can be adopted or reserved as yours at anytime to get on the surgery list! Please call us for more information.

We do adopt out-of-state, but require adopters to have a plan for getting their new addition home before we process an application. Please check out the airlines, PilotsNPaws, Operation Roger and CARE Transport in Denver for some transport options.

We are open Monday - Friday 10:30 am to 5 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 3 pm. You can also call us at 719-680-2385.

Thank you for considering adoption through our shelter.
