Sweetie was turned into a county shelter following a life of neglect and being used as a "puppy machine". Despite her treatment prior to being rescued, she has earned her name by remaining sweet and gentle. She gets along with dogs both large and small, cats and young children as well. Most of the people that meet Sweetie ask how old she is, but all we can do is guess. She looks older, but the grey in her muzzle may have been caused by poor diet, or birthing multiple litters. She acts much younger than she looks. Sweetie has a lot of energy and she is very social. Despite being "older" and house trained, she clearly was never trained for basic obedience, and doesn't know simple commands like sit, down, and stay. She is also clumsy when walked on a lead. Despite her lack of formal training, she is still a very "sweet" dog and will most likely be very easy to train. She wears a big smile most of the time and is clearly eager to make the people around her happy. She has been living in a foster home where she is not crated and she has shown she is fast to learn the rules of living indoors and very willing to comply with the rules. She rides patiently and quietly in the car. People that have met Sweetie think she is a pretty girl, and she enjoys good health. If you are looking for a great companion and don't mind teaching an older dog some new tricks, consider coming out to meet Sweetie at an adoption event. This lady has earned her second chance. Sweetie is being fostered in the Front Royal area and will be attending adoption events in Front Royal, Purcellville, and Gainesville. For further information her foster can be contacted at steveshepherdrescue@gmail.com .
